MIRI Alarm — Privacy Policy

Effective date: August 3, 2026

MIRI Alarm (“the app”) is developed and published by Yoomin Lee (“we”, “us”), an independent developer. This policy explains what data the app handles. The short version: we collect no personal data by default. The app shows a banner ad served by Google AdMob — the data involved is described in “Advertising” below. If you opt in to the optional, off-by-default analytics & crash reporting described in “Analytics & Crash Reporting (Optional)” below, only the items listed in that section are collected — nothing else.

Data we collect

We collect none ourselves. The app has no user accounts and no backend server. Nothing you enter in the app — alarm schedules, arrival times, event names, emoji — is ever transmitted to us or to anyone else. The two exceptions are described below: advertising served by Google AdMob (“Advertising”), and the optional, off-by-default analytics & crash reporting (“Analytics & Crash Reporting (Optional)”).

Data stored on your device

Everything you create in the app — alarm schedules, arrival times, event names and emoji, saved presets, and a flag noting that you completed onboarding — is stored only on your device. We cannot see, access, or recover this data.

Device backups

Your device's operating system may include the app's local data in its own backups (Android Auto Backup, iOS device backup). Those backups are managed entirely by your OS vendor account settings, not by us.

Permissions the app uses

The app requests only the permissions needed for a reliable wake-up alarm: notifications, exact alarms, full-screen alarm display, and (on some Android devices) the “appear on top” and battery-settings screens — on iOS, alarm authorization (AlarmKit). These permissions are used solely to ring alarms you set. They do not give the app access to your personal data. On iOS the app additionally asks the system App Tracking Transparency permission, which is used only for personalized advertising as described in “Advertising” below.

Analytics & Crash Reporting (Optional)

MIRI may collect anonymous usage statistics and error (crash) reports to help improve app stability. This collection is optional and off by default. You can consent to it or withdraw at any time from the onboarding screen or the “Data Settings” entry at the bottom of the home screen; withdrawing stops collection immediately.

What's collected: anonymous app-usage events (chain composition counts and duration statistics, alarm-missed occurrences, permission-health states), error/crash logs, device model and OS version, and a per-install anonymous identifier. We do not collect schedule content such as names, emoji, or times.

Processors and cross-border transfer: crash reports are processed by Sentry (Functional Software, Inc.) and usage statistics by PostHog Inc.; both services store data on servers in the EU region. The items transferred are the same as the collection items above, transfer happens when you use the app after consenting, and network transmission is encrypted (HTTPS).

Installation, operation, and refusal of automatic data-collection tools: the SDKs above are only initialized if you consent, and you can refuse (withdraw) at any time from “Data Settings.”

Retention: data is automatically deleted after a period set by each processor's own retention policy; you can request deletion using the contact details below.

Advertising

The app shows a banner ad on its main screen, served by Google AdMob (Google LLC). To serve and measure ads, Google’s advertising SDK collects and shares with Google: device advertising identifiers (Apple IDFA / Google Advertising ID), IP address (used to estimate approximate location), ad interaction data (such as ads viewed and tapped), app interaction information (such as app launches and taps), and performance diagnostics. Unlike the optional analytics above, this happens as part of showing ads; Google acts as a third-party ad network. Your schedule content is never sent to Google.

On iOS, personalized ads use the advertising identifier only if you allow the App Tracking Transparency prompt; if you decline, ads still show without cross-app tracking. In the European Economic Area and the UK, Google’s consent dialog appears first, and you can change your choice anytime via the “Ad Privacy” entry at the bottom of the home screen (shown where required). You can also limit ad personalization system-wide: iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking; Android Settings → Google → Ads.

Google processes this data on servers around the world, including the United States. For details, see how Google uses information from apps that use its services.

Third parties

MIRI does not sell your data. Two third-party services are involved, exactly as described above: Google AdMob receives the advertising data listed in “Advertising” as a third-party ad network, and — only if you opt in — Sentry and PostHog act as processors handling the analytics & crash data on our behalf, not as third parties using it for their own purposes.

Children

The app is not directed at children. We collect no data ourselves; the advertising and optional analytics described above involve only the listed items and are not used to identify any individual, regardless of age.

Data retention and deletion

All app content — schedules, arrival times, event names, emoji — lives on your device by default. Deleting the app deletes all of it. To remove app data from OS-managed backups, use your device's backup settings. If you have not opted in to the optional analytics & crash reporting, we hold no data about you, so there is nothing to retain and no deletion request is necessary. If you have opted in, see the retention details in “Analytics & Crash Reporting (Optional)” above for how to request deletion of that data.

Changes to this policy

If the app's data practices ever change, we will update this page and note the new effective date above.
